Finding a Name for Your Master's Commission®

MCIN Board of Directors Statement: "Finding a Name for Your Master's Commission®"

In an effort to protect the integrity of the international Master's Commission® trademarked name and safeguard the credibility of the movement, the MCIN President will approve all Master's Commission® names of Pioneer programs prior to their publication. We desire to encourage upstart programs to implement creativity and wisdom in choosing a name for their future program. We have established guidelines, which will assist Pioneer & Affiliate programs in choosing a name for their program.

We ask that a Pioneer & Affiliate program abide by the following guidelines:

  1. Abstain from using names of states, regional, and major cities when choosing a name. (e.g. "Michigan Master's Commission", "South West Master's Commission", "Phoenix Master's Commission")
  2. Abstain from using International, World, & Global references when choosing a name. (e.g. "International Master's Commission.")
  3. Use a name that properly and ethically communicates the location, mission, and strengths of the Master's Commission program. (It would not be appropriate to use a name like "Prescott Masters Commission" if you are located 30 minutes away from the city.)
  4. Abstain from using a name that closely resembles an existing Master's Commission. (e.g. "Greater Dallas Master's Commission" when Dallas Master's Commission already exists.)
  5. Use a name that promotes unity and not division. (It would not be appropriate to use a name like "The Ultimate Master's Commission." or "South West Master's Commission" )

It is not the desire or intent of the MCIN Board of Directors to limit or over-govern the creativity and individuality of a Pioneer & Affiliate program. It is important to foster healthy, credible programs that reflect the original intent and integrity of the MCIN Affiliation.

All Pioneer programs must submit for approval their potential future name on the "Pioneer Application" before publishing said name in commerce, web, or print. This happens by submitting a Pioneer Division Application online with full payment. Once submitted the name that has been stated on the application will be reviewed. (Process takes two to three weeks for research, review & approval or denial) Once it has been determined you will receive an email of approval or denial of the submitted name. If denied, you will be asked for a different name, which will again need to go through the process. Please make note that state, major city, & regional names will not be approved for any reason.

All Affiliates must submit for approval any name change of their current Master's Commission® in writing to the MCIN president before publishing said name in commerce, web, or print.

If you have questions about the approval process or name of your Master's Commission program, email us at pioneerdivision@mcin.org.
